Referral cards are handed out to your existing customers for them to distribute to their friends and family.  Print them on a regular business-sized card with your salon name, address and telephone number, and a line that says “Referred by: __________.”  Create an incentive for your customers to refer your salon by offering a free haircut with every five (or ten) referral cards you receive back with their name.  

Every city has them, so all you have to do is find out who publishes your local door to door coupons and sales papers and put in your ad. Usually these papers are divided by neighborhood or area of town, so you can target the homes that you want to receive your ad. These can be as creative and stylish as you like. They can be placed on the car body or your back window.  Be sure to include your salon phone number and web site address. You can also get magnetic decals so you can easily remove them from you car or put them on another car if you need to.  It is a fairly inexpensive way to advertise so go for it!

Get the birthdays of your clients and send them a coupon for a percentage off a hairstyle or cut, or a Free service of choice in your spa.  The possibilities are endless!  It could be a coupon that reads ” Get a free manicure with any pedicure on your Birthday” or something similar to that.  It’s just a little way to show your appreciation for your clients.
